Our friend Franne Brandon knew that we were looking for mares with a natural running walk and older bloodlines. Franne contacted Larry Lineberger in Petersburg, Tennesse and had him call me. After speaking with Larry, we planned a trip to visit his herd of heritage bred walking horses. His stock came from the Olivers of Brown Shop Road Farm. In November of 2017, we loaded up our horse trailer and traveled out to see them. What we found was a treasure trove of foundation style natural walking horses. Larry and Rhonda were gracious hosts and showed us field after field of the mares and foals. We selected two mares: Ostella's Bay Surprise and Beasley's Bullet Candy, both direct daughters of Bud's Sterling Bullet. Bay Surprise is a stout, well made mare. Smart, sensible, strong and tough as nails. She is easy to catch and handle. At 15h she is on the taller side for heritage horses. She is fully elgible for IHWHA registration. She was broke to ride as a younger mare and recently spent two months in refresher training. She did very well and is ready for some more trail miles if that's the way you want to go with her. She has had foals in the past and is currently being bred to Remembrance's Merry Snip. This foal should really be something special! Bay Surprise has old-time middle Tennessee bloodlines. She's directly by Bud's Sterling Bullet and out of a Sonic Boom Sensation mare who is out of a Red Bud's Rascal mare. Snip is by Sun's Remembrance who is by Midnight Sun. His dam line is incredibly strong. Snip's dam is by Merry Boys F88 and she and her dam and dam's dam were some of Ray Corums best mares according to his daughter, Donna. In September of 2018, Bay Surprise went to her new home in South Carolina with our friends Tim and Julee Clarke at Back Forty Farm.
