Down By The Bay is a 14.2h, well trained bay mare. Her
sire, Apollo's Gold Strike, traces to
Allen's
Gold Zephyr (aka Trigger Jr) twice. Trigger's Play
Boy through his sire Zephyr's Play Boy (direct son) and Zephyr's
Cocoa Lady through her sire Zephyr's Red Ace (direct son). She can be a pain in the tail to catch unless you have grain, but once you have her she's a saint. She has lovely, soft ground manners. She stands tied quietly like a lady. She stands to be groomed and tacked up. She loads and hauls like a lady. She stands for mounting. She walks quietly. She has a lovely flatwalk. She can running walk and rack. If her rider feels off balance she will actually STOP for you. When you ask her to stop it's an instant "yes ma'am." She was broke by the Amish for a lady who used her to trail ride. Her version of a spook is a quick rush forward, which she did once when a herd of horses rushed up to the fence from behind us on a trail ride. She is not high on the herd heirarchy and tends to stay out of the way of the alpha horses. She has had two foals and would cross well with Golden Gambler or The Tennessee Stud. She has a current negative coggins, is up to date on all of her vaccinations, her teeth were recently floated and feet trimmed. We ride her in a gaited dee bit. She would be best with an intermediate rider. She is obedient but quick and responsive. Congratulations Debbie & Gordon Goddard of Unionville, VA!
