Fame’s Pushy Lady is affectionately
known as “BJ” around the farm.
We first met BJ in 1999 while visiting
another horse in training at Joe London Training Stables. She
was a supremely talented mare whose short but brilliant
show career was cut short due to
a leg injury involving a fence that left her with a severed tendon.
The injury forced her show career to a halt and left her unable to be
ridden.
Even with her injury, when Joe
allowed me to ride BJ for a few passes around the riding ring she absolutely
blew me away. She is one of the best natural walking horses I’ve ever
ridden, injury and all. I can only imagine what she might’ve done in
the show ring if the injury hadn’t sidelined her. When BJ moves, you
feel like you are walking with purpose. Her powerful natural rhythm
echoes through your body, but in a good way. It’s like feeling the rhythm
of music. The video on this page was taken right out of the field at
14 years old and 10 weeks after foaling. She hadn’t been ridden in six
years and just watch her! We tried to acquire her older pictures and
videos to help create a better picture, but they were sadly lost in
a fire.
Joe chose BJ as a youngster. From
the moment he laid eyes on her, he felt she was destined for greatness.
She came out of the womb walking and shaking on a level that usually
takes years to reach. Everyone who knew BJ will tell you that she is
one of the most natural, talented horses out there.
When she was first put under saddle,
she just went right into walking and shaking. Everything with BJ was
just…easy! She was easy to work with and just so naturally talented.
She loved trail riding and showing and walked a show level gait no matter
if it was a dirt road or a mountain path. Although she is a high caliber
show mare we expect her foals to do well in any venue --- just like
BJ!
Though I hinted (OFTEN) that I’d
like to own BJ, we never dreamt we’d have the opportunity. When Joe
told us she was available in 2013 we jumped at the chance. We feel so
blessed to have her.
When we think of BJ, the first
thing we think of is her talent and AMAZING way of going, but there
is more to her. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out.
Just a sweet, solid, good tempered lady.
BJ has proven her worth as a broodmare.
Joe London has her firstborn foal, Wise and Famous, under saddle and
he is just amazing. He also acquired her second foal, a liver chestnut
filly by Golden Gambler (This
Lady Likes to Gamble) For a trainer of Joe’s caliber to
retain her two foals should tell you just what kind of quality she is
producing. We bred her to
Remembrance's
Merry Snip, one of the last closest links to Midnight Sun
and Merry Boy and she gave us a wonderful homozygous black filly,
Snip's Pushy Lady, that we retained in our breeding
program. We are looking forward to her 2023 foal due by
Respect This.
We hope to keep this foal in our breeding program.
